Brush Less D.C. Fan
Presently 110V DC fixed and swivelling type fans of different sweeps having commutation with the help of carbon brushes are being used in self-generating coaches and DC EMUs.
Maintenance and replacement carbon brushes and their holders including maintenance of commutator of these fans had been great concern to Indian Railways in addition to its low efficiency, reliability and excess noise.
In order to reduce maintenance cost, weight, operational cost and to enhance efficiency, reliability, service life and aesthetic of these fans implementing the latest state of art technology in this filed, this specification for brush less DC railway carriage fan has been prepared for guidance of manufacturers frothier design and development.

EECPL 4.5kW 120V ERRU equipments are designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with RDSO Specification no.RDSO/PE/SPEC/AC/0013-2011 (Rev-3) for brushless alternator used in railway train lighting system.
It is fully capable of developing a constant voltage of 120 volts at a load current of 37.5 Amps from minimum speed for full output to maximum speed. The ERRUs are used for:
- Charging the coach battery.
- Operation of fans, lights etc. in coach.
